community update five!

The Aboriginal Friendship Center of Calgary is looking for new members (open to anyone!!), and also kyds to join their youth group. Contact info@affccalgary.org for details.

If you haven't heard of the bike shop, you should've - Good Life BikeShop in Eau C. mall downtown shows you & your community how to maintain your bike, and all the other random things that are good to know about bikes. they run programs, sell super crazy cheap bikes, and are generally awesome. http://www.goodlifebikes.ca/

the kyds are alright...

Networking group for neatos and sanzzers who don’t want to grow up in suits and a moral vacuum. F that. For folks who believe that “because that’s the way it is” is a lame reason to be complacent. Acknowledging that there are real reasons this world is chumpy, (not just because of bad attitudes and boot straps, thank you Horatio Alger) that we need to take real action against, in order to make change.

In order to make this work we abide by three essential truths; everyone who comes to the group is worthy of respect, in order to create change we need people working on all fronts, and community is key to our future.

What does that mean? Well. Let me tell you… sometimes we have to work with people we don’t totally agree with, but we understand that everyone is doing the best they can with the skills they have, and the values they rock. Sometimes people need our help, and if it’s in our power to give, then we probably should. Sometimes someone wants to thro a pie, even if it’s not my idea of the best course of action, I won’t stop anyone else from cranking a banana cream. That’s the way a community works. All together, all independent, all for the future.
